Passenger list Corean 1891
« on: Sunday 25 May 08 04:50 BST (UK) »
Just found something intersting on archivianet passenger list.  I know the info about my grt gpa coming to Canada (Arthur MANSON, 'Scotch' Farmer aged 19, left Glasgow on the Corean bound for Quebec & Montreal on 13 June 1891, with contracted destination Portland, carrying supplies for a voyage of 32 days. Arrived Montreal June 25th.)

What I just found was that on the original passenger list there appears to be a "Robert Manson" age 23 listed right after him.  I presume that this is his older brother born Orkney 1868, but don't know.  Any way to find greater detail on Robert?

My research shows that Robert married and lived in Glasgow (1901), so if this IS him he must have returned from Canada at some point.  Any passenger list that proves this?

Thanks,

Nick

On the ship's manifest, did it say if he were bound for the U.S.?  It would probably be written at the top of the page.

If not, he could have been headed for Portland, Ontario. It's located north of Kingston on Big Rideau Lake. (Counties of Leeds and Grenville.)

Thanks Janice,

No, that was from details on Arthur.  I know explicit details about him from his 1871 birth to death in Victoria BC in 1954.  I am trying to find if there are other details that show this Robert was indeed his brother, and a record of Robert returning to UK.
