Curiousity Wardle!
« on: Monday 26 May 08 18:04 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

My Great Great Uncle went to canada at the beginning of the 20th century.  His name was Arthur E Wardle and he eventually had a son called Howard Douglas Wardle who is one of the few men who escaped from Colditz!

I have no information on when he went to canada, how he got there or where he lived when he got there.  I wondered how to go about finding out such information as my research is begninning to widen to flesh out the branches of my tree.

Thanks

Stephen ;D

Hi Stephen

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_D._Wardle he was born in Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada so that may be a good starting point for his dad's whereabouts .....

HI Stephen,

Wow, what a story about Howard!!

You can search the 1911 census for free at www.automatedgenealogy.com

Arthur gives his year of immigration to Canada as 1911

This looks like his marriage to Beatrice Douglas in 1914 in Dauphin, Manitoba

i DIDN'T REALISE ALL THAT WAS THERE

I found an arthur living with an evelyn, but he's 40 and my arthur would have been 22 when he left if it's true he left in 1911!
