Hi --
After many a wayward wind, I've finally launched
Wm B. Phillips' brilliant career ... as a naval cadet !!!
His brother ALBERT is not yet found ... .
1881 CENSUS
RG11/ 1341206 folio 0868 / 134 -- Vessel "Worcester"

Willm. Biernacki PHILLIPS U 17 Allahabad (Brit Subj) Cadet
Then in 1891, William is ashore with maternal relatives.
But where is Albert? ...
1891 CENSUS - London, Battersea
RG12/438, Folio 84, Page 3 - 16 Nightingale Lane
Household with William Biernacki Phillips - b. abt 1864 India
Anna De Biernacka, wf, b. in Breslau Silesia circa 1837, and

Edward Mitchell, h, 63, Clerk Holy Orders, b. Lincs Bostn
William B Phillips, nephew, unm, 27, Mercantile Marine 1st
Officer Seas, b. India, Allahabad, Brit. subject
9 servants
The number of servants suggests something significant
is happening here, but I lack / need the details.
[The servants' names may be significant, if available.
I wish to trace the mother of Wm. -- so associated
names which moved from one part of the family to
another would be of help, eg. if she died or went
abroad.]
--
To go back to Wm B. in 1871, was he then residing
with his father, or uncle, Henry Philips, or with
relatives of mother, Josephine [Biernacka] Phillips?
Also, where is his younger brother, Albert?
I'm stuck trying to place 2 sons of Wm. [c. 1820-1]
Chipping Norton, Oxon. -- with choice of father here:
1871 CENSUS
Phillips William 50 Hanover Square, St John Westminster
Phillips William 51 Hanover Square, Belgrave
Phillips William 5 Hanover Square, Belgrave
This may be Wm. [of 1820-1]'s bro.
Phillips Henry 47 Holborn, Old Street
If Albert is with other relatives he could be anywhere.
I will check each CENSUS for details ...
In Mar. 1900, Wm B. wed his Ellen C.
at Hampstead - 1a 961
William Biernacki Phillips
Ellen Cuisford Beaton
Now I wish to determine where he and
Ellen settled down to wedded bliss.
