Look up for Elizabeth Lewis marriage
« on: Saturday 31 May 08 17:54 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find more about Elizabeth Lewis. She married Ebenezer Wright 8.9.1826 St. Mary's Brecon. It has been suggested there may be more info on the marriage register. Also I am trying to find where Ebenezer was buried. He died in Brecon aged 72 1869. Thanks.

The witnesses on the register may help. As you have the date, you can get a copy of the parish record entry from Powys Archives, if no-one here has access..

Hello Shamana

I can't help with this particular problem, but I notice that your family search list shows  Lewis  Eglwysilan/ Llanfabon.  The birth area of my G G Grandfather, Thomas Lewis (b 1808), on the early censuses (1851, 1861) is given as Eglwysilan, and in 1851  with the family is Catherine Lewis (b 1767ish), possibly his mother, birthplace given  as Llanfabon.  Could there be a link?

Be good if we can find a connection
I think about 1790's Llanfabon and Eglwysilan parishes were combined.
All my Lewis's were born in Llanfabon except for David lewis who was born in Eglwsilan. David was a butcher and publican.
Catherine , William, Thomas and David are all family names.
What address were your Lewis's on the census?

I'm slightly limited with Eglwysilan/ Llanfabon information, as Thomas Lewis ( my G G Grandfather) was already married by the time of the 1841 census, with a family, and living at Pantyffynnon farm, Ynysddu, on Mynyddislwyn mountain.  He married Catherine Rees from Mynyddislwyn on 29th Dec 1829, so I assume he moved to that area before then.  He was apparently born in 1808 and died aged 73/75 on the 31st March 1880.  They had several children at Pantyffynnon  btween 1830 and 1846 -  Mary, Thomas, William, Rachel, Lewis (my G Grandfather), Hannah, Henry, Catherine and Ann.

I've assumed the Catherine Lewis (b Llanfabon), visitor in 1851, could be Thomas' mother as she was then 80, and doesn't show with them on the next census.

I haven't been able to pin anything else down before this time.
