cant afford certs sorry. if i had done that when i started it would have cost me thousands by now.
Sadly. Kas, there are times when it is necessary to buy them, to provide evidence, when doing family history.
No one ever said it was a cheap hobby - though it is a lot cheaper than many!
Trying to pursue any line of research without buying ANY cerificates in my very humble opinion is just a waste of time - it is so easy to go off on to a wrong track and, whilst yuo may end up with an impressive family tree, it is not yours! So all that time, effort was completely a waste. Rather to spend out a little on some key certificates and be sure that what you are looking at is correct.
I'm not saying these are key certificates - this may be a side branch of your family that you are content not to research any further. You may be lucky and establish George and Jesse's relationship in a different way - from a will or later census or something.
But please, please, do not just 'assume' that they are uncle and nephew, or brothers, or whatever! I see yuo say ' so - they are not brothers ' - well they might still be, Andrea did not disprove that, merely suggested a possibly more likely alternative. But who knows? they could still be brothers.. or uncle and nephew.. or cousins... or second cousibns.... or first cousins once removed....or just pure coincidence they had the same surname...
It would be so sad to base your tree on that, if in fact it was all wrong .....
Enjoy your birthday and day out - when someone says what do you want for your birthday you answer 'a couple of certificates please!'
ANd enjoy you family history research too.
