Hmm. Trying to get my head around this!

The only marriage for a James Wraight to a Jane I see on FreeBMD is:
Dec quarter 1861,  Milton registration district 2a 1105, James Richard Wraight to either Jane Emmin(g)s or Hannah Hopper. (There is a birth registered for James Richard Wraight in Faversham 1838, which would match the 1891 census' age and birth place for James)

Why is Thomas called Firth or Frith then? :P I've searched for him in 1891 and I suspect he's the Thomas Frith (or Firth) age 11 born Chatham at the Home for Orphans in Sutton at Hone, Kent. Maybe she adopted him? Or maybe there isn't a marriage between James and Jane at all and Jane was really a Firth? I hope the 1881 census will help!

OK, I think James Richard actually marries Hannah back in 1861 and this is Henry's mother Jane in 1881:

1881
RG11/888 42 13
Chatham, Kent
7 Fort Pitt Street

Joseph Frith, head, 34, Private R.M., b. Derby Brampton
Jane, wife, 30, b. Middlesex London
Thomas J, son, 1, b. Kent Chatham

Here's a link to Thomas J's christening - shame it doesn't show Jane's maiden name

Are you still following me?

I was wondering if James and Jane were ever married. I doubted it, seeing James' wife Hannah still alive in 1891, now shown as married to the chap who was lodging with them in 1881 ...

1891
RG12/653 140 52
Strood, Kent
4 Brickfd Cottages - Cuxton Rd
3 rooms occupied

Alfred Jackson, head, mar, 36, Labourer, b. Sittingbourne
Hannah, wife, 48, b. Bapchild
Richard, son, 14, b. Sittingbourne
Harriet, dau, 9, b. Strood
Annie, dau, 7, b. do.
Alfred, son, 5, b. do.
Thomas, son, 2, b. do.

BUT I've just found this possible marriage:
Jane Frith - James Richard Wraith
Dec 1885  Medway 2a 935

Also, in 1892 (odd because she should logically have married as Wraight)
Jane Frith - Joseph Keeley
Jun 1892 Medway 2a 995

This might be Jane's first marriage:
Jun 1879 Medway 2a 769
Joseph Frith to possibly Jane McIntyre
