I have looked on the census for East Riding of Yorkshire, some 300, 000 entries altogether and found just  one  John Young aged 5. born Hull living in Drypool. This is a place in Hull I think, but it is the only John Young listed born in Hull, in the whole of the East Yorkshire census, so if your details are right then this is your man!

There is another John Young aged 5, but he is born Glasgow, and living in East Sculcoates.

John is living there with his mother, Ann who is head, aged 42, a laundress, born Hull and a widow. She has a son called William, a lath render, born Hull aged 20, Henry aged 8, born Hull, and James aged 3 born Hull.

The reference is RG/3580/04/75

Glad to be of help. I have the 1851 and 1861 census for EYS and can do look ups if you want at all. Sadly not the 1871 census, so see new topic. Do you know anyone who may have lists of burials in Hull at all, as I think that both John & Hannah Readman may be buried there, as they were there in 1861, but both quite old.

Wobbly,

If it's not too much trouble, please can I request lookup on the 1861 census for Hull? I'm looking for a William Beckett (basketmaker) and wife Jane, but I'm afraid I don't know how old they are, or where they were born. Useless!

In 1862, their daughter Elizabeth was born at 1 Providence Place, Finkle Street, if that provides any clues. I would guess that they were born in Hull, c1835-1840??

Many grovelling thanks in advance,

Katie

Hi Tara,

I am struggling to do that request as the 1861 Version I have at present I cannot search on. I shall be up and running in a few days and will get back to you then.

I can do 1851 Census.

Hi Wobbly

Either 1851 or 1861 or both would be lovely if you have the time, very much appreciated, they married in Hull in 1852 so hopeful there in 1851 - fingers crossed.

thanks heaps

Hi Tara,

I enclose a file for you for Brooks and Graves in 1851 in text formation.

Perhaps then you can search amongst them for yourself and see if you can see them.

If you dont then send me another message re 1861 and I will try there for you too.
