I have replied to the specific request relating to George as follows:
"Cookham parish register for the period in question (1813-37) has been extracted onto the BVRI.

George Harding son of James and Sarah was baptised on 30 Dec 1832 at Cookham

George Harding son of William & Elizabeth was baptised on 12 Oct 1834 at Cookham"

As what's on the BVRI seems to differ from the previous post I'll list all the Harding baptisms in Cookham where the father is James, for the period 1813-37
Anne 30 Jan 1814 James & Elizabeth
Sarah 11 Feb 1816 James & Elizabeth
Elizabeth 19 Apr 1818 James & Elizabeth
Henry 10 Sept 1820 James & Elizabeth
Richard 1 June 1823 James & Elizabeth
Martha 15 May 1825 James & Elizabeth
Charles 25 Dec 1828 James & Sarah
Emma 31 Oct 1830 James & Sarah
George 30 Dec 1832 James & Sarah
John 14 Feb 1836 James & Sarah

Marriages on http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/ in Berks, which is not complete but which includes Cookham and Clewer (8 miles apart - pretty close by English standards but regarded as next door in Australia) of James Harding are
8 May 1802 at Cookham by licence Elizabeth Wix both otp
18 Feb 1822 at Clewer by Licence Sarah Rixon both otp

Burial
Sarah Harding age 38 at Cookham on 4 Nov 1836

A couple of children, at least, of James and Sarah appear to be missing from the baptisms - Louisa and William

Thank you again David.  You will see I have the missing children

James Harding B 1796  Sarah Rixon B 1798
Cookham            Hurley
Married 1822 Clewer

Children under the name of Harden on Hugh Wallis and born in Hurley:
Thomas Harden 1821
Louisa Harden 1823
Harriet Harden 1824
William Harden 1826

Children under Harding all born in Cookham
Charles Harding 1828
Emma Harding 1830
George Harding 1832
John Harding 1836  Blind . Sarah died when he was 9mths
he went to live with aunt and uncle in Hurley

I have followed through on William Harding Born 1826,
my Gx2Grandfather, and they become Harding by the 1841 census.
Louisa, William, Charles, Emma and George are all at home.
This is the same family.

Now for George to be the right George we need the burial entry
for George to be wrong  ie. Sarah to be his mother not Elizabeth.
What do you think could it be an error?
Regards,
Abiam

So the Australian burial entry for George gives his mother as Elizabeth Buckingham, which is very precise, and nothing like Sarah Rixon.  I don't know how accurate this type of detail is in Australia as the only person who knew for sure who his mother was was the deceased! The informant couldn't have known George's mother who died in 1836 so may have got some garbled information or just invented the name. Or it might be a different George Harding.

Why do you think the family on the passenger list is your George and Sarah? The wife is wrong, George's age is wrong and two of the children were born some years before George and Sarah married in 1854. In the 1851 census living in St Pancras were G. Harding 27 wife Emma 22, and children John 3 and Louisa 2 whose ages match perfectly with the passenger list. I don't think the family on the passenger list is yours.

Hello David and Rayleen,

I do have to agree with you I don't think I have the right family.  I was getting really doubtful once Cando had found the names on the ship!

David, I looked for a sailing because from what the GR contact told me they could have sailed around that time.  So I thought it worth checking as there was only one Christian name.

Rayleen, I think you have sealed their fate!  Strange though as I have other Hardings in North Town.  Probably a distant connection somewhere.

I hope no-one feels I have wasted their time.
At least I can now tell the GR lady that she has the wrong parents if she ever replies to my last 2 emails.

Lastly thank you all for your help, although wrong for me.  I would like to think someone browsing RC one day will be looking for said family and be delighted with their 'find'

Regards,
Abiam

HARDING ---- INFANT WITH I DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 11A 126
HARDING ---- WIFE WITH - DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 11A 126
HARDING 004 CHILDREN WITH C DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 11A 126
HARDING CHARLES 3 DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 13 80
HARDING EMMA 27 DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 13 80
HARDING EMMA I DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 13 80
HARDING GEO WILLIAM 33 DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 11A 126
HARDING GEORGE 33 DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 13 80
HARDING GEORGE 5 DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 13 80
HARDING JOHN 10 DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 13 80
HARDING LOUISA 8 DEC 1857 EBBA BRAHE 13 80

Now  I  have a  bit of  thought  about  the families on  the Ebba Brahe

It  is  hard  to say who  belongs to  who.  So  I  will  ask  Gennie  to have a  look and maybe she  might be able to look  it up at the Provic.

I  think  it  is  just  to strong a  link  with  the right names of George Harding and Sarah Hyde.  It would  require a look at one or two certificates to confirm or deny either way

Incidently  looking at deaths of the children   for George and Emma  found  that  he was George William Spencer   Harding and she was Emma Allen.  Now  this George Harding death details were

Surname: HARDING
George William Spencer Harding died aged 60 in 1884at South Yarra reg no 14154
father Job Harding mother Ann Spencer

My  own  gut feeling  is  saying don't discount  the death of George Harding in 1890 whichcannot be ruled simpy because it says the wrong mother.  We all  know  information  on  death certificate can be incorrect and  information  can be mistranscribed on  the index's
kind regards Jenn
