Hi again,

There was one more child born to George and Sarah - Elizabeth Harding
14 Sep.  ??  I have looked for her in England with the thought that she was born in the UK before they emigrated but have had no luck.

The first child we have is Henry in 1859 and as they married in 1854 I would think Elizabeth was possibly born before '59.  I hope someone can find her.

I am waiting to hear back from my GR contact with all the information you have found for us,

Thanks again,
Abiam

I wonder if this may be Elizabeth's birth

Births Sep QTR 1854
HARDING  Elizabeth         Hungerford    2c/218

No further births in Berkshire for an Elizabeth HARDING unti 1876.

I assume she would have been born in Berkshire?

Cheers

Thanks Cando.  I did see Hungerford but can't be sure as it is quite a way from Cookham.  A long way by English standards not Australian!
Hope you are well,
Thanks for looking,
Abiam

"She has now sent these 2 marriages:
Annie Harding = Ernst Max Christopher Hinsch
Alice Emily Harding = Jack Woolford
But nothing on where or when."

http://www.naa.gov.au  Record search.

In 1818 Annie Hinsch lived at Hobson St. Queenscliff with her son Charles George aged 18.  He was born 28/11/1899. The file contains a letter from him.  His father is deceased.

There is an application for Naturalisation for Ernest Max Christ. Hinsch dated 1897.  Not digitiised,

Now, ALice Emily and husband Jack Charles Woolford. ....

He enlisted in ww1 and the file contains much information about him before his marriage .  He is aged 21 His father in Tas is NOK.
He was awarded Miltary Medal and in letters regarding the loss of it written in 1954, he is living in Northcote.  He also enlisted in 1940.

The file also contains letters fron his wife Alice.

However, there is another and most extraordinary letter from another woman to the AIF requesting his particulars as he is the father of her child and has jilted her!!

You will get a lot out of this read  think.

Jack Charles Woolford is interred at Fawkner Crem . He died at 84 in 1979.  There is an Alice there also and I suspect it to be her with an incorrect second initial. She died in 1961 aged 65.

AH.....
Ok ,we have a problem here.

Jack Charles Woolford on this file was born c. 1895
Alice E Harding 1872.!!

Letters in this file from her were written 1941.

She died 1933

The signature on the hand written letter is difficult, but it may be Alice  M Woolford, not Alice E  Woolford.  Which would fit with the Fawkner cremation name of Alice M Woolford.

So do we have 2 Jack Woolfords both marrying Alice [someone?]

Looks like it.

Sue
EDIT. corrected spelling error

Hi all

I have had a look at the passenger records...and this is what I have found.

HARDING   Charles   3   DEC   1857   EBBA BRAHE   B   137   009
HARDING   Emma   27   DEC   1857   EBBA BRAHE   B   137   009
HARDING   Emma E   I   DEC   1857   EBBA BRAHE   B   137   009
HARDING   George T   5   DEC   1857   EBBA BRAHE   B   137   009
HARDING   George William 33   DEC   1857   EBBA BRAHE   B   137   009
HARDING   John 10   DEC   1857   EBBA BRAHE   B   137   009
HARDING   Louisa 8   DEC   1857   EBBA BRAHE   B   137   009

Wife is Emma and no Henry or Elizabeth assuming that Elizabeth was born in England.

Abiam what do you think?

Cheers
