Hi

These are the only people called Batson that I can find that are linked with Griffydam (they do appear on other censuses). Are these the family that you are looking for ?

Nice one, Annie 8)

The family can be seen in 1881 at http://www.familysearch.org/ by searching for William Batson 1849.

On the ensuing search results page you will see his census entry showing some of the earlier children mentioned above by Annie (but some of the birthplaces given are a bit dodgy :-\).

Also on the search result page you will see an IGI Christening entry for (what seems to be) him.

Poor Susan(nah) does not seem to know where she is from ;D. However, Gedney and Long Sutton in Lincolnshire are very close together and I think that is the correct area despite what she or the enumerator says in 1881 and 1901. Her birth was registered in Holbeach in 1850 AMJ quarter 14 474.

Marriage Registration

1870 Aylesbury AMJ quarter 3a 621

William Batson
Susannah Luff

1871

Aylesbury RG10/1414 Folio 70 Page 26

William Batson Head M 21 Ag Lab Bucks Hardwick
Susanna do Wife M 20 Bucks Aylesbury

Hardwick, Bucks

William can be seen with his parents (John and Jane) in 1861 and 1851 (if you wish to go back that far).

Susannah can also be seen in 1861 and 1851 with her parents (William and Jemima). Susannah is clearly shown to be from Gedney, Lincolnshire on both of these censuses but her mother and younger siblings were from Aylesbury.

Please let us know, Paston, if you want details from these earlier census sheets.

Hi Annie

Trust you to be sidetracked into the Pub ;D

I have amended the address on the 1891 entry to say Rising Sun as a result of reading the link to the Traveller’s Rest.
