robert graves
« on: Wednesday 11 June 08 12:49 BST (UK) »
I am stucj with my family search I am trying to look into my grandma's side but I have come to a dead end. I have Robert graves who was born 1853 father is John Graves. Robert married Annie Oldham in 1883 in Newark Notts. I have found a birth that i think may be him but was hoping someone may be able to help before I purchase anymore birth or marriage certs, getting quite a collection. the birth I have is louth third quarter 1853.
If any of this is part of anyones tree or may be able to help pointing me in another direction I really would appreciate the help.
Cheers
Kara

Do you have Robert and Annie on any census ?

It looks like the Robert graves b. 1853 Louth Lincoln is in Cardiff in 1891 and single????

Could you post details from marriage cert ? -Robert's fathers occupation and witnesses??

I found a Robert who may be yours in the 1861 census, aged 9, born Louth Park,  but the "head of family absent visiting friends" - (I've not seen that before) - no mother named.

Hi Suz

Fathers name is John Graves deceased at time of marriage in 1883 he was a Coal Dealer It is really hard to make out what the witness names are. they are both Oldham's which is Roberts wife Annie's maiden name.
Can't find them on a census but know they had a son called Josephe Edward Graves born in Claypole 02 May 1892. if this helps at all??

Ruskie - it dosen't supprise me finding no Mum on census and dad not there seems to be my luck at the moment!!

Thanks heaps for all your help.
