Crayspond - indexed all Johns in inverkeithing!! all that came up was a John Beveradge  died 7 mar 1828. note says Fife herald 13 mar 1828 has listsed as James beveradge.  OPR 432-3

Monumental Inscriptions list:

Inverkeithing Churchyard  stone 135:
1775   john beveridge.  (no further details)
notes with entry say: the MS (manuscript) in Dunfermline Public library refers to the inscription.  This refers to the Erskine beveridge papers in the library - some inscriptions contain sketches from the churchyards.

Thanks Diddy,
It's very interesting - i have recently been to Scotland and spent only a day in Inverkeithing/Dunfermline.  I saw the actual stone and read through the papers in the library(i can't find any connection with Erskine).
I have a feeling that my Beveridges left Inverkeithing and moved to Dunfermline(they show up there in 1765) after the birth of John Beveridge born 1726. They were sometimes known as Belfrage.
Would it be cheeky to ask if you could look at the Dunfermline death index.  I can trace them from 1804 but it's the period in between that is lost as the death indexes are not available on Scotlandspeople yet.
No problem if you can't - you have already been very helpful.

There are a lot of Thomas Beveridges listed outside Dunfermline but all in fife general area I will try and copy and send you a PM.

Wow,Thanks Diddy ;D The first Margaret looks distinctly possible from an age point of view & if I have the right one, this would have been her second child.
Though if she is the right Margaret, her husband didn't waste much time remarrying - a few months ??? I guess if the baby survived,he would have needed a quick solution to his problem. ;D
Thanks for the other info,I am sure it will be useful at a later date.
Much appreciated
Barbara

Hi Jac and Diddy

I wonder if either of you could help out on a post www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,309524.0.html regarding the Drummond family.

A Mary Drummond born anytime late 1700s-1805ish (going by census ages etc.) showed parents Robert Drummond and Margaret Wilson on her poor relief records in Lanarkshire. She married a Hugh Marr in Dunfermline in 1822 and moved to Glasgow where Hugh was originally from. She showed a birth place of Mastertown in some of her census entries.

We are all struggling to find any details on the parents  :'(  We have found a Robert Drummond, a weaver aged 65 in Dunfermline in the 1841 census (one and only sighting of him). Possibility that he may have had a second marriage to a Marion/May Wardlaw (marriage in 1811).

So, some of the names we are looking at:

Robert Drummond - age 65 in 1841
Margaret Drummond, maiden name not confirmed
Marion/May Wardlaw
John Drummond - age 25 in 1841
Robert Drummond - age 38 in 1851

Curious also about any other Drummond death entries in Dunfermline. Not a particular common name for the area so hopefully may stand out  ::)

Many thanks.

Monica  :)
