Cockerill/Elwell Aston, Birmingham

Hi

Can anyone help with the following family's:  Cockerill and Elwell in the Aston area of Birmingham i seem to have hit a brick wall with these family's.  I can't seem to get any further back than my grandmothers generation.  As she is no longer alive i can't ask her any information about them.

Her father was Edgar Cockerill but finding his marriage certificate records his actually name was William Edgar Cockerill.  Her mother was Mary Elwell.  The only information i can find out about them was they were married in the July-September quarter of 1902.  They had there first child in the following year of 1903 and had another 6 children the last being born in 1917.  I can't seem to get any further back than William Edgar Cockerill and Mary Elwell. 

If anyone can help i would be very grateful.  I don't even know where to start looking.

if you have edgars marriage cert what was his fathers name and occupation and was he still alive in 1902
also what are the ages of edgar cockerill and mary ann elwell on the cert.

Sorry haven't actually got a copy of marriage certificate only the reference number to order the certificate.  Was hoping there was a way around finding this information without ordering the certificate.

think you are going to have to get the cert to be sure you are going down the right track.
there is this 1901 census entry
RG13/2845/135/8.
mary ann elwell age 19. b. leicestershire. occ. domestic servant.
she is in the household of james and amelia basley
addres; stalhouse lane,st.philips,birmingham,warwickshire.

the only mary elwell on 1891 that would fit in with the above census is
RG12/2286/148/31.
if you want the full entry then i will post it here(she is with her parents and siblings)
but as i said earlier you would need the cert to verify if it is her.

I have ordered the marriage certificate for William Edgar Cockerill to Mary Elwell from the Birmingham Records depending on how long they take and what information i get from it i then may take you up on your offer for the census information.   Thanks for the help.  My fingers are crossed that the information i'm looking for is of some use to me.

I have received the marriage certificate of the couple i was looking for got all the information now and still can't seem to get any further with it the information on it is as follows:

William Edgar Cockerill  22  Bachelor  Bulider Father William Cockerill Gas stocker
Mary Ann Elwell  21  Spinster  Father George Thomas Elwell, Laborer

Married in Aston in Birmingham on 11/09/1902.

If the offer of help is there i would much appreciate it.

i am having trouble getting this image up
but there is this george elwell with daughter mary.a.elwell
cannot see what his occ. is though
could SKS have a look to see if he is a labourer.
if not will have a look to-morrow
have to go to work now.

there is this william cockerill occ. gas stoker living in aston warwickshire.
in 1881
RG11/3032/99/12.
