Lincolnshire Regiment
« on: Wednesday 25 June 08 17:18 BST (UK) »
Hello

I wonder if anyone can give any extra information on the 3/4 battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment?

I'm particularly interested in William Herson who was a private in this regiment, but I believe he must have moved battalions as I think I have found his medal card (service no.s 4810 and 43032) which show he received both the British and Victory medals, which I think means he served in a theatre of war, but from what I can find on 3/4 battalion is that it was a British based only battalion. The family rumours also suggest he was a POW but where isn't known.

Does anyone know if there was a natural progression from 3/4 to a particular battalion? Do the service numbers give any information about what battalion he served in?

Thanks

Julie

Ive just had a look on Soldiers Died with similar Service numbers and a lot are close to his from 1st Batt. His first number is probably 2/4th Batt Territorial Number..He deployed overseas after Jan 1st 1916 entitled to British War and Victory Medals.
