1861 Census Howard in Clifton
« on: Saturday 22 January 05 15:27 GMT (UK) »
Please can anyone help me to find Thomas Howard in the 1861 census.  He may have been living in Clifton Vale.  He was married to Maria and he may also have had his mother Hannah in his household.  His address in 1871 was 11 Clifton Vale

Hi Phyl ;D

Here's Thomas - no mother Hannah but a servant of that name. The writing is very difficult to read especially the servants names, occupations and place of birth but, fortunately, Thomas and wife were fairly clear.

Thomas Howard, head, mar, 44, Civil Engineer, Wiltshire
Maria A., wife, mar, 43, Philadelphia US
Hanna Lea, Servant, un, 25, Cook, Devon Charley?
Salinda? King, Servant, un, 21, Housekeeper?, Somerset  S****??
