Sligo Men in the Great War
« on: Saturday 28 June 08 17:17 BST (UK) »
Hello List,

I was in Tubbercurry last week researching my Irish roots, and i meet my Great Uncle for the first time. He let me borrow a book called Sligo Men in the Great War 1914 - 1918 by James McGuinn, but i need to post it back to him as soon as possible as there was not many that was published and you cannot get the book anymore from what i have been told.

At the back of the book there is about 16 pages of Sligo men who died in the great war, i am in the process of scanning them pages and saving them to my pc.

I am sure you can understand that it is way too much to type it all out on here, it would take me ages

I am willing to do a look up on the soldiers that died in the first world war from Sligo, but not every soldier is in the book.

I hope i can help someone

Pam from UK

Hello Christopher,

Thanks for your reply, i live in the UK and only came back from Tubbercurry 9 days ago after doing some family research over there.

I can only go by what i was told at the time. Since being back i have been told the book can be ordered via a bookshop in Sligo Town, but not online :-(

Hi Pam,
I wonder could you check for two names in your book on Sligomen in the Great War; Albert Alley Millar and his sister Henrietta Evangeline Millar, from Ballinfull, Sligo.  (I only hope that nurses who died are also referred to??)
Many thanks!

Pam's orginal post was in June 2008 and she mentioned the book was on loan and needed to be returned soon. She hasn't been online for a while and hasn't responded to the last 3 requests so I'm locking this topic to prevent any more requests.
