Hi to all,

I am researching a man named John Hay, who was the manager of Garnant and Brynamman collieries in 1884. I believe he was also manager of collieries at Henllys Vale and possibly Cwmllynfell.

In 1884, he lived at Brynamman House, but eventually moved to The Uplands in Swansea, where he died in 1903.

I belive that two of his sons, William Aubrey Hay and Thomas Jones Hay, were members of the Cwmamman Council in the early 1900's. William Aubrey had a daughter named Gwenda Hay (before she married), who was a sister at the Amman Valley Cottage hospital.
