COMPLETED -1891 & 1901 census - Pearman
« on: Monday 30 June 08 19:50 BST (UK) »
Please would someone be able to check both censuses for me?  I have the 1881 census and they are living at 11 Coultham Terrace, Lincoln.

James Pearman, born Essendon 1835
Hannah, born Gainsboro 1847
They have several children, all born in Lincolnshire, except Sarah born Paddington 1867.

By the 1901 census James has died so Hannah is a widow but she may have her brother-in-law Samuel, born 1828 Essendon, and his daughter Lillie, born 1876 Hatfield, living with her.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you so much Geoff
James Snr was the brother of Samuel and Lillie was his daughter who married James's son James.  Samuel had married a widow, Rebecca Dimmock, and she died in Hatfield in 1898.  Rebecca's daughter Annie married Alfred Handy in 1889 in Hatfield.  I've looked at the freebmd but the nearest child I could find was Ettie Maria D. Hunt - Sep qtr 1896 - which would have made her only 5 at the time of the 1901 census but I think she is probably the same child.
I am so grateful for your help.  :)

What about
Births Dec 1892
HARDY    Ethel         Hatfield    3a   526

They also appear as HARDY in 1891 census - I guess it's an easy mistranscription to make.
Batterdale, Hatfield
Alfred Hy HARDY 21 Bootmaker, Hatfield
Annie Matilda 21 Hatfield
Emma JELLIS (vis) 18 Baldock

Dear Delta

I came across your post accidentally as a result of a Google search for Hertfordshire Pearmans.

James & Hannah Pearman are my great great grandparents. James moved from Herts to Lincolnshire sometime in the 1850s where he married Hannah. One of their daughters, Rhoda, my great grandmother, was born in Lincoln and continued to live there, but I happen to know that they maintained significant connections with Hertfordshire, possibly into the 1930s and beyond.

Do you have any family connection with these Hertfordshire/Lincolnshire Pearmans? If so, it would be nice to exchange further notes.

Kind regards

Takyakotov (Steve)

Hello Steve
The connection goes back to the 1730s, with the Hertfordshire Pearmans.
James 1835-1900 was the son of George 1800-1872.  He was the son of James 1757-1802 and he was the son of Edward 1732-1800, whose first wife was Rebecca Crane.
I am descended from Edward's brother John 1729-1810.
Regards
Delta
