Hi

The baptism and marriage records for Dover St James and Dover St Mary are on the IGI for that period:

http://www.familysearch.org

You can check the batch numbers for these parishes (it is useful to have a batch number for such common names):

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/

You might also find the second name searches useful (see the same page)  if your ancestors had unusual names or surnames as second names.

Best wishes

Hi

Just spotted this one - don't know if you ever found what you were looking for.  These are from the IGI:

The John Browne/Bettie Mackley marriage was on 25 MAR 1776 in Kildwick, Yorkshire.
Charlotte Wheatland shows up in 1786 in Thakeham, Sussex d/o Thomas & Sarah.

If you still think there is a Dover connection and you nee a lookup, send me a PM with the details.

Regards, Bill

I know this is an old and perhaps nobody looks in anymore, but some of this onfo may help somebody at some point. I was looking for my own family, but felt compelled to share this in case any of this is correct & may help someone in their searches.

It appears that although married that Elizabeth may have been buried under her maiden name. Regardless of how this happened or whether or not that is her burial information,
she is mentioned on a monumental inscription along with family.... hers says "Elizabeth departed this life 19th February 184_ aged 33 years and of five children who died in their infancy leaving only two sons and daughters.... Thomas, William, Sarah and Mary.

So she had nine children before the age of 33....( If children Brown, her first at age 15/16 1823) and appears to have died in or shortly after childbirth. Is she wife of John Brown or could it be they were not ever married? Happened seldom but did happen)
http://www.ismayons.com/pedigrees/web/family41/pafc04.htm

If this is indeed the wife of John Brown, then this might also help to understand the late baptisms of the children, if the couple attended a services for christenings then burials for nieces & nephews, getting one's own children baptized may have taken on a new sense of urgency.
