Birmingham marriage:WHITE/ALLINGTON
« on: Saturday 05 July 08 17:37 BST (UK) »
I have managed to trace my gr gr grandparents back to Birmingham in 1851 by census data but am now stuck with three possibles for Thomas White (born c1828) in the 1841 census. I know he married Selina Allington (born c1833) but have not been able to find a record of the marriage which would enable me to get his father's name. I think the first child of the marriage was born in 1852. Census data shows both Thomas and Selina as born in Birmingham but I notice that Selina is with her family in Wolverhampton in 1841.
Any help or advice in tracing the marriage details would be much appreciated.

Hi Hepburn
Thank you for such a quick response. So she is definitely Birmingham then but it's Thomas I'm really stuck on. It could be worse I suppose; I could have been born "Smith"!

I'm still fairly new to this ridiculously addictive pastime so am I correct in saying that as he was born before 1837 if I don't find a marriage I'm stuck?
By the way, interesting to see you have a HOWE in your list. Thomas's grandson Herbert married my grandma Eliza Howe in Sheffield. Her ancestry has taken me to Upton nr Southwell, Notts.
