William HAMLIN burrial ?
« on: Friday 11 July 08 11:22 BST (UK) »
According to his death certificate William died on 3 March 1877 in the County Asylum at Exminister.

I am trying to locate where and when he was buried so the obvious first look would be the church in Exminister which I believe is St Martins, so I would be grateful if somebody sometime could check this out for me.

If he isn't there then the only other place to look would Newton Abbott as this is where he was living before being admitted to the asylum.

Many thanks in advance.

The asylum did have it's own burial ground, but I have no idea where any records might be- if they survive they're probably in Devon Record Office.
I have seen where the body has been sent back to the home parish of the deceased (Tormoham Parish registers).
As regards burials in Newton Abbot- there are two parishes (Highweek & Wolborough) plus Newton has a civil cemetery.

Thanks for the info Terry, unfortunately I am as far away from the Devon Records Office has can be so my only hope is from some nice person on here although it does sound like it could be post luck identifying where he could be.
