Hi Kirsty,
I sympathise with your blood sugar--I suffer with mine a lot as well!!
Thank you for your information. These were the couple I had as my favourites but I hadn't found the parents yet. As you say, they are the nearest to Comrie, but at that time there was a lot of trading across the glens and I thought Daniel could have come from anywhere!
I have no idea when either Daniel or Catherine died. The information I have is from their son's DC. Daniel was a gardner. I was thinking that with the names he gave the daughters, there must be a connection to Lord Ruthven--maybe Daniel was the gardner at Melville House, but I can't find any archive material on it.
There is a Daniel Robertson on the 1841 census in Colinsburgh, aged 70, an Ag. Lab.
And also on the1851, still Colinsburgh, aged 84, a forester. He lives with his grandaughter, Jane Rue and 2 children. I have traced Jane as Jane RAE, born Newbattle --mother Christian ROBERTSON. AS I haven't found that Daniel had a daughter Christian, I cannot verify that he is 'my' Daniel.
The only death, is Colinsburgh in 1852, no details, so no joy there.
Nothing at all on Catherine.
I'll dig around on this couple and see what i come up with. As you say, the naming patterns are never accurate, but I have found people from them in the past!
For this reason, I was inclined to pick Patrick McKISAICK and Catherine DRUMMOND as Catherine's parents.....
Thanks again,
Sheilah xx
