Broad Hinton - James ISAACS
« on: Thursday 17 July 08 18:28 BST (UK) »
If anybody has access to Broad Hinton PR I would be grateful if they could look to see if there is a baptism for a James Isaacs or Isaac in 1822 and any other information.

Many thanks in advance.

I thought Virginia meant the Broad Hinton in Wiltshire, between Swindon and Marlborough.  I used to live there, very friendly village, original villagers and newcomers all mix well.  When I was there, (1990-2000) there was a church, village school, a shop and two pubs.

Interesting that there appears to be a James Isaac in Dorset too.

James Isaac was baptised in the village of Broad Hinton, Wiltshire - PR record.

At the time of his baptism his parents obviously lived in Dorset, hence the reference to an address outside the parish.   Perhaps his father, mother, both or family were from Broad Hinton and they made a sentimental journey.  That we'll never know, but hopefully Virginia does.   It was a good spot on her part if she knew that the Isaacs were living in Dorset at the time.

Thanks for the replies.  I've finally managed to start sorting out James - my 2 x great grandfather.  I knew he was born in Broad Hinton but was desperate for some clues to his parents which I have now confirmed.  The family were travellers and his father was an itinerant tinman but it seems the family originally came from Dorset.  They all got about a bit.
