« on: Saturday 26 July 08 00:10 BST (UK) »
FAO kaz-ginger,

I saw your Look-up offer regarding Upleatham records on the Offers page.

Would you be kind enough to check the following for me please:

Marriage of Thomas PATTINSON & Elle HARRISON on 25th April 1846.

I'd be interested in any deyails, eg the witnesses,  parents names etc.

Many thanks.

Nick

Hi Nick,

Visited Teesside Archives yesterday and did your look-up.  The entry on the microfilm was almost impossible to read, the ink in the register must have been very faded when it was filmed, so hopefully I have managed to read it correctly.

Thomas Pattinson full age bachelor of Redcar, sorry couldn't make out his occupation possibly painter? Father's name looked like Thomas, shoemaker.  Signed.
Ellen Harrison full age spinster of Upleatham, father William? gardener?  Made mark.
Wits: Thomas Pattinson, signed.  Elizabeth ? too faded to read - made mark.

Sorry I couldn't be more definite but hope this helps.

Good evening Tillypeg,

I'm very grateful for your time and trouble doing this look-up for me. Since I posted the original message I managed to obtain a copy of the Marriage Certificate, but your confirmation of all the essential points is very useful.

I confirm that Ellen's father was a gardener; the only difference is that Thomas's father is recorded as William PATTINSON, shoemaker. Thomas the son's occupation was indeed "Painter", so your deciphering of the image was pretty accurate !

Many thanks once again.

Nick
