port glasgow cemetary keeper
« on: Sunday 03 August 08 09:47 BST (UK) »
hi there every one,
i have just been told after much searching in the wrong place i.e belfast that my great uncle and his family lived in a small house beside port glasgow cemetary where he worked.the names of the family i am after are james brennan and his wife elizabeth [lizzie] nee burns and 4 children.
the dates are approx 1910 - 1950 this is all i have been told, can anyone confirm that this family did live and work in this area.
many thanks

Hi Zander

I asked my mother about this for you and she remembers a Mrs Brennan who lived in thegate keepers cottage - there were 2 entrances to the cemetery and the lived in the cottage at the bottom gate at Woodhall.  One of her daughters became a Mrs Hamilton .

Hope this helps

hi mrs t,
many thanks for your reply,
as i said before i was looking in the wrong place so these are all great leads.
the info i was told sounds the same as you have confirmed about the cottage where they lived so it gives me some hope that i am on the right track.

hi mrs t,
need a big favor of you,
is it at all possible that you could ask your mum if see could narrow down a possible year of the marriage, because i would order the cert or a search but it is only done in either 5/10 year parts just can not mind but it would save me paying from 1935 to 1995 if you see what i mean, any help on this would be fantastic.
thanks again

Zander

She doesn't know anything else about Mrs Hamilton, sorry. I have had a look on Scotlands People and the Marriages only go up to 1932.
