Date of Death
« on: Sunday 03 August 08 12:39 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me trace the date of death and age of my Grandmother - Ethel Maud Baker of Burradon/Camperdown in Northumberland.???

She was born Ethel Maud Guthrie daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth Guthrie in 1892 and died July or August 1956 and was buried in St. Bartholomew's graveyard, Benton with no date of exact birth or death on her gravestone

Her first married name was Pattinson and later married with the surname Baker ???

To my knowledge she had two living daughters Elizabeth (Lily) Pattinson and my Mother Margaret (Peggy) Baker

Thanks everyone for the information given so far.  Is it possible that some of the dates given are the dates that i.e. my Grandmother's marriage was registered rather than the actual date she got married as it looks as if my Mother was expected before my Grandmother was married which I would have imagined was frowned upon in the 1920's.

Can anyone advise me therefore how to get the exact date of death?

Happened quite a lot!

Registrations are by Quarters, so the Sept Qu is actually July to September, and sometimes late June births etc. would be registered in that quarter.

To find the exact date you either need to buy the certificate, or find the event in the local parish records.

Kind regards,
Barbara  :)
