HI,

You could try looking at the dublin directories of the time for their names. Also if they were registered as voters or had a telephone there are directories in the Dublin City Archives.

Thanks Kated

But this Ballyduff is near Carnmoney Belfast.

But your ideas sound good.

How do I find directories ? can it be done on the net etc....

Hi,

The directories are books that are in various repositories in Dublin - libraries mainly.
There is an 1852 (ish) example available online so you can see what it gives you. See the link on my website.

I'm totally lost reading the replies. Your problem relates to 1930's Co. Antrim so an 1852 directory will not be much help. The Belfast and Province of Ulster Directory 1861 is on line at -

http://www.lennonwylie.co.uk

I live in Co. Down and am about half an hour by bus to Belfast. The South Eastern Education and Library Board Headquarters are a short walk from where I live and they have an excellent selection of directories as do both the Central Library in Belfast and the Linenhall Library in Belfast. I will make a note of this and see if I can find anything but my initial feeling is that Ballyduff is a townland and unless it has been incorporated into either the Carnmoney or Glengormley listing in a directory
then you are not going to find your family by this approach.

Thank you Chris for your reply

I have found since posting that the family in wallace row are related but are cousins (2nd) of my grandfather and i
have been able to trace that line back to 1870's where Iam now stuck on G G Grandfather James Stevenson ,wife unknown etc etc of the Carnmoney area.

Thank you for the other site's will have fun looking through

Thank you

My father-in-laws mother lived in Rural Gardens, which is facing Wallaces Row on the Hightown Road, Glengormley. Her name was Stevenson. She married a Neill. They later moved to Fariyknowe and then Queens Avenue. Also my own great-grandmother lived in the row of terrace houses just above Wallace Row in the 1930's.
