Any idea when they moved to Canada?
1901, 1906 (partial) and 1911 census records online (free) at www.automatedgenealogy.com. Be sure to also look at scanned image for more details than are on the transcribed page.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

http://www.findmypast.com/passengerListPersonSearchStart.action
 - shows what looks like a possiblity for John and Margaret, heading to NY in 1924.
I think you'll find the earlier ship listing(s), in 1908/1910, for this family as Faerigan.

http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~maryc/linc1925.htm
 - marriage of Agnes Devlin Ferrigan, daughter of John and Margaret is listed here. The family lived in 'Merritton'.
http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~maryc/linc1923.htm
 - and marriage of Helen Jane Ferrigan.

http://www.islandnet.com/cgi-bin/ms2/jveinot/search
 - shows that John, Margaret, and possibly daughter Mary are buried in Lakeview Municipal cemetery, Thorold.

Hi Aghadowey and Jorose.
Thanks for your replies, have had trouble with my server and couldn,t get in to RC.
Will have a look at these sites you,ve sent me and see if I can find info about John and Margaret Ferrigan. Not sure when they went to Canada. Johns half brother James Devlin went in 1903 so it,s possible it was after then.
I do also remember hearing at one time they were in the states as a half sister, Mary Ann Latimer, nee Devlin lived in N.Y.
Thanks again.
Mary.

They had to have come over after 1903, as here is the marriage of Agnes
May 14, 1925 at Merritton ( Grantham Township, Lincoln County, Ontario )

.
Alfred Charles CORNEY age 24/ occupation: mechanic (Toronto, St. Catharines)
parents:  Alfred L. CORNEY (born  Isle of Wight) & Isabella COLLINS,
married Agnes Devlin FERRIGAN age 22 born Scotland (living Merritton)
parents John FERRIGAN ( born Scotland)& Margaret KERR
witnesses were Dan STEWART  (Thorold )  & Cecilia HURSON?  (Merritton )

Perhaps someone can get you the information on *A* for the marriage of
-Mary Ferrigan to John Thomas Black
-Helen Jane Ferrigan to Vincent Patrick Phillips
-Annie Faerigan toDaniel Stewart
-John Joseph Faerigan to Ann Milne

Not that it helps much, but here they are in 1911, Welland / Thorold with children Helen , John, Margaret & Agnes as "Faergea"  it says FAERIGAN on the page, but is a bit smeared, so the enumerator should have written it again for each person...

Thanks again J.J. Just finished breakfast here and will get going on the info you have sent me.. Seems they  spelled their name several different ways. I think Ferrigan is the correct one tho I guess it,s up to the person who writes e down the info. Do you know if there is any way of finding telephone numbers from the 30,s when they lived in Merritton /Thorold? Wonder if the family is still living in that area.
