Not sure what goes on here  ??? Their parents were Alexander McKay and Charlotte Hall they were married 01 Apr 1910 at Dunblane..seems wierd.. as usual any help appreciated, once again thanks to all for previous help and encouragement..Patvp

HI

I did a search on SP for all McKay females in Perthshire 1910-1920, and have found your mother as you said (Annie 1915), and Jean Stewart (1913) in Dunblane and Lecropt.

There are several Isabellas (1911, 1916, 1917) and a Janet Isabella (1919), though none in Dunblane.

There is a Mary Eliza (1912) Dunblane and Lecropt. Any chance this is your Nan?
(I used to know a Nan McKay, a friend of my Gran's, but she lived in Edinburgh...)

Also a Mary Hall McKay (1911) Perth.  I just noticed the mother's maiden name.   :-[

I'm not sure why there would be an image available for your Mother when they are only supposed to have them available up to 1907. I understand that expanding the index is a work in progress but images are not supposed to be availabe at all under the 100 year rule I thought.

Curiouser and curiouser....

Hi Kirsty, and thank you for that, you are right it is strange..
So the time span is from 1910 to 1915.
I know Aunt "Nan"was the eldest, then Aunt Jean, then Isabella and my mother was the youngest, my grandfather was killed in the first world war and the girls were put in school although my cousin maintains it was an orgphanage ??
Can't see Nan's name being Mary ?? as not a family name, I have a vague suspicion that it may have been Agnes but can't find anything under this either..it's very frustrating..wish I had asked when I was back in the U.K. in the seventies, sadly all the family are now deceased except for one cousin and myself and am afraid Ian is not interested, ah well something may turn up, according to Ian, Isabella was killed in an accident in the south of England but have never been able to find a record of this either..bother and damnation..regards Pat

There was an Agnes Carr McKay born in 1910 in Alyth which would fit with the timeline, just not the location...

Were they all definitely born in Perthshire or is it just assumed as that is where the family lived normally? Any chance they were visiting family elsewhere when the children were born? Maybe Charlotte's parents lived further away?

Mysteries like this get to me...

It's not like I don't have enough of my own  ::)
