missing Douglass children

I have recently received some letters my granny wrote to a cousin in Australia and I have just found out my father was one of 12 children not 10 as our family thought!!!!!!!!! They were born in Radcliffe between 1892 and 1914 according to marriage of their parents and my father's birth (he was the youngest). Parents were James Mcleod Douglass and Maria Mcleod/McLoud. Known children are: Isabella, Margaret Jane, Andrew McLeod, William, John Robert, Mary E, James Henry, Alexander McLeod and Matthew McLeod. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Ivy

Do you have years of birth for these children?

I can see births for Alexander in Oct/Nov/Dec 1913 in Alnwick and
Matthew  Jul/Aug/Sep 1914 in Alnwick on FreeBMD

Cant see a family in 1901 which matches up, so knowing which children were born pre 1901 would help.

SO - is the Maria an extra child, or the same as the Mary E you have listed?


a few doors away is the McLeod family - I guess Maria's rellies looking at the sinilarity of names! Alexander McLeod, wife Isabella, children Isabella, Andrew,Maria and Alex.

There are SO many Douglas(s)es listed in Alnwick on FreeBMD betwen these dates it is hard to tell if any more belonged to these parents.

Did James leave a will? that might mention all (survivng) children.

I forgot to add Maria to the list. According to an elderly cousin's widow she thinks there may have been a brother Frank and a sister who emigrated to Canada, I will send years of birth for the known children later today.  Ivy

Looking atthe list of dates, there are gaps sort of 1900-1905 and 1910-1912 where another child or two could slot in.
But even with these fairly narrow bands of dates, FreeBMD has a LOT of Douglas(s)  births in Alnwick!!

However, you mention the name Frank, so this looks a possible, esp as it is the only Frank in Alnwick and fits into the gaps.
