McHale's in Co.Tyrone
« on: Saturday 09 August 08 19:27 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find information on the McHale family from the area of Broomhill in the parish of Leckpatrick. My grandfather was John McHale, whose address on his wedding certificate was the above. He had one brother,Harry and 3 sisters,Rose, Ellen and one other whose name I am unsure of.Neither Harry, Rose nor Ellen married so there would be no descendents there. However there could possibly have been aunts, uncles and cousins whose descendents still live in the area.I also remember my father mentioning the place Glenmorning. My grandfather would have been born around 1870.

No Broomhill in Leckpatrick parish but there's a BROWNHILL- could that be the place on the marriage certificate? Griffith's Valuation (1850s) doesn't list any McHales in that townland but the place on the mariage certificate is John's residence at the time of the marriage which may or may not be where the family lived.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
