Marriage in Beaulieu - 1805

I have found a brief mention of marriage banns for ELIZABETH PECKHAM and JONAS SENNECK in Beaulieu in October 1805. Any help with locating a record of the actual marriage would be appreciated. I have traced Jonas Senneck back to Dorset, but imagine that Elizabeth Peckham was more local. The age given at the time of her death (in Poole, Dorset) makes her year of birth c1783. Any help with finding her family would be especially welcome. I am 'new' to Hampshire research. Is there a way of getting to Parish records? Anything that will help me move forward with this on...! Thank you

Jonas Senneck married Elizabeth Peckham in Beaulieu 26 Oct 1805

An Elizabeth Peckham was baptised 1 Dec 1782 in Beaulieu, parents John & Mary Peckham.

There is another baptised in Lyndhurst in 1781, parents John & Sarah.

Wow that was a quick reply. Thanks VERY much! Do you know which church these two events (christening and marriage) would have happened in? When I have time later I will look back over my notes - I'd found  a Betty Peckham from Lyndhurst and did wonder if that was her; but someone from Beualieu is much more likely. I wonder if Jones moved there to work as a shipbuilder/carpenter? A couple of sites I looked at last night mentioned the fact that several of the ships from Nelson's fleet were built there. 1805 was the year of the Battle of Trafalgar and in later life (ie the 1841 and 1851 censuses) he was a shipwright, so it all seems to add up. This would the parish church in Beaulieu, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and Holy Child.

Buckler's Hard was one of the main places in the parish where they built naval vessels.  Have a look at their website:

It's a wonderful place - worth a visit if you are able to get there.

Hi again, Nell,
I've been to Bucklers Hard a long time ago - but certainly didn't know of any family links. Places take on an added significance when you know that you are somehow linked to the place! I will certainly try to get down that way again sometime.
I suppose that logically I am now interested to know how long Jonas and Elizabeth stayed in the area. Fortunately, 'Senneck' is quite an unusual name and as there is a Martha Senneck's christening recorded in South Stoneham in 1811, I am fairly sure that this family was living there by then; between 1816 and 1819, the family seem to have moved to Poole (ie there is a christening for a Senneck in South Stoneham in 1816 and then in Poole in 1819). The oldest child I have located is Margaret Senneck who was born c1808 so I wonder if she was born in Bealieu? Any Senneck christened there around that time (1805-1811) is likely to have been theirs!
Moving back two generations, is there any detail available about the marriage of John Peckham's parents, which I imagine would have been around 1725? ... or Mary Marshman's parents at the same time?

I found these baptisms of daughters of Jonas & Elizabeth (as well as the one for Martha in South Stoneham):

Mary Sennick 17 August 1806 in Beaulieu
Mary Sennick 26 Oct 1807 in Beaulieu, note, priv.

I could not immediately see one for a Margaret.    I checked for any burials and did not find any.

I'm sorry, I can't help with the earlier generations - no access to the earlier stuff.

Presumably the first Mary must have died in infancy - is there a record of her burial? .... and the second? She may have been known by a different first name in later life as there is a daughter, Margaret, whose birth I have not located.... or did she die in Beaulieu too?

Is it possible to identify any siblings for Elizabeth Peckham?.... other children whose parents were also John and Mary?

Only if you have time, and I am not pushing my luck by coming back with too many supplementary questions!!

Hi Alan,

Other children of John & Mary Peckham in Beaulieu:

Martha baptised 1 Dec 1782 - twin to Elizabeth

These found in Milton, parents with the same names:
Ann 15 Apr 1787 (noted as "poor")
Jane 18 may 1788 (noted as "poor")
William 16 May 1790

They could all be the same family, but not sure.

I could not find any burials for the Sennecks and this was puzzling given the two apparent children with the same name.  It is possible that one of them was Margaret, abbreviated to Marg.
