Early to mid 1860's by the look of it.Do you have the original ?

Yes, 1860s. If you do have the original, could you please scan it again, at 300-600 dpi, and post it? You will have to change the file name slightly...adding a letter or number will do.

Unfortunately I don't have the original, but will try and repost at a higher dpi.
The lady in question was born 1801 and died 1884, so I think the date would fit.

Hi Linda...if you don't have the original you really can't rescan it at a higher dpi, I think...it's still very blocky and indistinct
But the dress, the photographer's props and the general setting all say mid 1860s.

Added; I'm not disagreeing with China, the dress actually looks late fifties, but the lady looks older than someone born in 1801.
