I checked 1929-40 and the addresses had the same primary owners/residents for all years: Frank C. O'Donoghue [or O'Donohue] at 552 and James A. Black at 555.

I checked a single year (1935) from the angle of the names and found:
- O'Donohue Frank foremn Can Packers h 552 Perth av
- Black Jas S pntr Bd of Education h 555 Perth  av
- Black Mary M  emp Can Packers r 555 Perth av
Also:
- Black Chas r 544 Perth av

These are the Toronto city directories available at the Central Reference Library in Toronto.  Each year has an index by name and an index by address.

There is a complete set for the 1950s but, as I recall, they become sporadic starting in the 1980s.  Is there anything more I can check for you?

Can you tell me please if the directories only list the name of the head of house or do they give names of other residents in the house?

Thank you,
charlotte

Yes, I am interested in the directories for the 1950's. Same people, same address.

Charlotte,

The index by address seems to list only the owner or primary resident.  The index by name tends to list the primary resident plus all working residents.  Children and housewives (usually) are omitted.
