1851 census lookup please - BAKER / BOWDITCH
« on: Thursday 27 January 05 17:20 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the following people in the Dorset 1851 census. I am hoping they will be found in the Caundle or Holwell area near Sherborne.

Mary Baker (born about 1786). Hopefully married to Isaac Baker (born 1784, Holwell, Dorset).

Robert Bowditch (no more details, but hopefully a neighbour or near neighbour of the above).

Mary and Isaac were my GGG Grandparents.

Many thanks,
Adam

Thanks for the Robert Bowditch info - I didn't have this one and it's tied up a loose end for me.

It's good to see that people are looking at old posts.

Thanks again,
Adam

Hi Alli,

Thanks for all the lookups,

The 1841 is knew to me. I knew about all the baptisms. Only Gideon, Mary and Thomas seemed to have survived. Gideon was my great great grandfather and is proving very to be very elusive. I have him in 51 and 71 (married and in London), but cannot find him in 41 or 61 at all.

Henry Martin seems to be the son of a Thomas Martin and Hannah Baker (from IGI). Hannah must be a child of Isaac Baker, but I can't find a birth / baptism record for her anywhere. I'll keep digging.

Thanks again,
Adam

Found Gideon in 1841 for you Adam - he was working as a male servant in South Street, Stone, Yeovil, hiding under the name of Gideon Beker.

Sorry - I can't see him in 1861 either!
