Thomas Wain Baptism Eltham please
« on: Sunday 24 August 08 19:12 BST (UK) »
Hello there!

I am trying to find a baptism for Thomas Wain born Eltham about 1783.

In the censuses his age varies indicating a baptism between 1791 and 1796ish - his death reference in 1870 states his age as 87.

If anyone could give me details of his parentage and any siblings they spot I'd be very grateful

Thanks Nanny Jan

I did notice that one in Chiselhurst and there are Wains living there, but I just felt that the age was just too far out, and he is very clear about it being Eltham.

If nothing turns up in that parish I'll have to assume that the one you have given me is correct - he DOES call his first son in Wilmington Thomas, but until I find his marriage I can't be sure of there being no earlier children

Hi Ashley,

If the family moved when Thomas was very young he might have only ever known Eltham as "home".
