O'Fee
« on: Monday 25 August 08 11:18 BST (UK) »
Hi
Just wondering if there is anyone out there who can fill in any gaps in my husbands family ' The O'Fee's' who as far as I am aware are from county Antrim.

the furthest back I have reached so far is George O'Fee b 1825 he married Mary Ann Marks.  date?

I have George living with the Marks family in 1851 Census at 33 Lisnagavor Townland,Rasharkin county Antrim[ looking for Georges parents, when/where born,/married etc.

George and MaryAnne went on to have a son Edward b abt 1850 [don't know where born or if there were more children?]
Edward O'Fee went on to marry Helen Thompson in Glasgow in 1875[looks like his age was 24yrs?]but after  Helen died he remarried Annie Duffy in Dundee in 1887 [but his age looks like 52yrs?]

Edward & Annie went on to have at least 5 children in Dundee

Charles abt 1887
George abt  1888
Edward        1890
MaryAnn abt1892
Helen    abt 1894
who are all on 1891 census as living6 Derby st Dundee

Edward b 1890 went on to marry Catherine Dunne on 22 july 1911 Dundee [these are my husbands grand parents]

I would be interested in any information at all to do with the OFee family,
many thanks in anticipation.

One son listed on IGI for George O'Fee and Mary Ann Marks (probably others between 1850ish and 1866 but civil registration of births only began in 1864):
Daniel Ofee born 15 Dec,1866 Dirraw district, Co.Antrim

You didn't mention what religion the families were. Civil registration of Catholic marriages began 1864 (from 1845 for other marriages). IGI had the marriage:
George O'Fee to Mary Anne Marks on 28 Nov.1849 Rasharkin district, Co. Antrim. It is most likely that the marriage took place in Rasharkin Presbyterian Church where the Marks family belonged but that would need to be verified.

Griffith's Valuation can be looked at here:

There are 2 George O'Fees listed for Rasharkin Parish- one in Culmore townland and other in Lisnagaver.

Just see from the other post below that you were already given the marriage date for George and Mary Anne in March 2008. It is helpful if you include information you already have to save needless duplication .

If you have any other details not mentioned in your first post you can add them here.
Do you know what religion the families were?
Rasharkin Presbyterian Church (if that's where the marriage took place- and I'm only suspecting that because of the Marks family) has baptisms 1834-1919 on microfilm in PRONI and Coleraine Library. The marriage register also on the same roll covers 1845-1919. LDS have not copied the records according to their catalogue.
Rasharkin Parish Church records have not been filmed.

You could have a look at Will calendar extracts on PRONI website (not working at the moment but just keep trying as the site is often down):
