James Matson born Sturry about 1810
« on: Monday 25 August 08 16:19 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I wonder if anyone has access to the Sturry records and could possibly help?
I'm trying to identify the parents of James Matson who was a Miller and born in Sturry about 1810. He married a Charlotte Ann who was also born in Sturry but about 1811.
If anyone could help with a record of birth and/or their marriage I would be greatful.
After his wife died in 1852 James went on to Sarre as a miller.

Thanks for that. This is strange as both James and Charlotte have recorded their places of birth as Sturry in the 1851 census and James again in the 1861 and 1871.
I've also failed to find James death so far.

That sounds about right although it raises another query as also in the 1841 census there is a James Matson born about 1811 in Faversham, Agricultural Labourer and an Ann born about 1816. I can't find this couple in any later census though!

Thanks also Suzard for letting me know where Broadlands is.

Interesting, he might have worked in the old water mill on the West side of Sturry and then probably at the windmill in Sarre. I used to live in Broadlands. :)
