Hi
I found my gggrandmother on the 1841 census living with her family at Broad Home Sedgley Wolverhampton, does anyone know what sort of home this was as there are many families living their.
Her name was Hannah Thompson Tart.

Was Hannah age 9 in 1841 -if so I think you may have misread the image -she is living at Broad lane

Yes sorry I misread the image what confused me was that Hannahs family were on the bottom of page 15 and the top of page 16 and Hannah is on page 17 so I thought it was a home. I have just received Hannahs marriage certificate and she was living at Lady Moor so thank you Suz that answers that question. Have you any idea what is under occupation for Hannah would she be working at the age of 9.
Thank you again

Her occupation is "F.S."
So it looks like she was Female Servant to John Roe (iron Moulder) and nancy Roe
HO107 998 12 17
Very often girl's went as "servants" at that age -possibly they were overcrowded at home and a neighbour (or relative) would let them "earn their keep" by helping around the home
