hello ,
just wondering & hoping if someone can please help me ,,,cause its driving me nuts!!
Alice Jane Durward  emigrated to Sydney , she joined the rest of her family .
in 1920's.....apparently she married an American ,didn't know if she married in Sydney (but i cant find her marriage on Scotlandspeople) so i take it she did marry there .   also don't know her married name to look for her death .

just wondered if anyone can find a marriage for her in Sydney please ??she was born 1890 in Scotland...i know she was alive in 1947 (when her mother died ) & Alice was 59 by then ., as its listed on mothers death certificate .

Is just Alice's christian name listed on her mothers death cert? 

By the 1920's Alice would have been in her 30's and there is no entry for her on  www.ancestorsonboard.com under the name of Durward emigrating to Australia

yes her mother died in Sydney ..pennant hills (i have her death certificate )...where it has list of children  one of them is listed as Alice Jane ,but none have their surnames.
its gives Alice's age as 59 at time of her mothers death,so that would make her born in 1888 and not 1890 as a thought .
I also have her mothers arrival to Australia in April 1922....but others arrived at various years .
I got the information about Alice from a elderly aunt in Australia....maybe she's got a bitty confused ..perhaps Alice went to America ,if it was an American she married ?

Have you tried looking in the newspaper for a death notice for her mother - it might mention her children.  I have many death notices from that time that have given me the daughters  married names.

If Snowolf has the mothers actual date of death  she could no doubt contact the Ryerson and ask for a lookup of the death or funeral notice  that could very well shed some light on  her married names (as Meggles suggests)

See my reply above - Her mother emigrated in 1922 when she was turned 60yrs old and I also thought it was more likely that Alice married in Scotland if she emigrated after her mother
