Death Cert information
« on: Friday 29 August 08 05:25 BST (UK) »

There appears to be some difficulty in RootsChatters viewing a specific Death Certificate. I am more than happy to provide details from it:

Janet BROWN Widow of, 1st. James Herd, ploughman, and
                                        2nd. David Brown, farmer.
1875, May 15th., 10 hr 20 mis P.M.
18 Edmund Street, Dennistoun, Glasgow.

Age 70 years.

Parents: George Fowler, farm overseer (dec)
               Mary Fowler, M.S. Fleming (dec)

Cause:  General debility, bronchitis (no medical attendant)

Informant: George Herd, son (present)

Registered 1875, May 21st at Glasgow - Peter Ferguson, Registrar.

I hope that the information will be of some assistance.

My best wishes as always,

Tom.

Hi Tom,

There appears to be some difficulty in RootsChatters viewing a specific Death Certificate. ...

I'm getting just a tiny bit confused here  :)

I can't recall RootsChatters saying they were trying to view this specific Death Certificate, or that they were having difficulty in doing so.  Perhaps you could give a cross-reference link to the relevant post(s).  ???

What I seem to recall is that, in trying to help you with a specific request which you made concering Janet's parents (I can't seem to locate the thread), Little Nell asked "What was George FOWLER"s occupation ..." (from FreeCEN I note that George was an Ag Lab in 1841).   Later sancti asked "Tom, when Janet died in 1875, what were her parents names recorded as?" (as I recall, sancti didn't say anything about trying to view the certificate or having difficulty doing so).

Ah well ...

As this death appears to have happened in Glasgow, perhaps it should be on the Lanarkshire board - that may resolve any confusion. I'm sure the mods will move it to the correct place
