Hello Lynne,
welcome  :)

To save any duplication of information already known to you- what kind of  info do you need? Is it census and parents?

best wishes
heywood

Hi Lynnn,

Have you found him on 1881 census?  It is free to search at either www.ancestry.co.uk  or  www.familysearch.org.

He is with parents Thomas and Elizabeth. His siblings are Harry (13), Mary (11), Annie (9), Agnes (6), Elizabeth (1).

Family living at Brinnington, Cheshire.

This looks like the source of his middle name:

We know he married Jane Murphy but that's all.   Could you advise how to get further on both sides?

He's not showing in 1901- would you expect him to still be in Stockport area?

A copy of Thomas and Jane's marriage certificate should show the name and occupation of her father, which you can use to find her on earlier censuses.

You can order copies on line at www.gro.gov.uk; cost is £7 (if in UK) and take about 1 week to arrive.
