1851 Cheshire census lookup Thomas/William Youd
« on: Friday 28 January 05 05:34 GMT (UK) »
Hi!
I'm wondering if anyone can help me find some of my Youd ancestors on the 1851 census. I only have limited information I'm afraid!

My gt gt gt grandfather was Thomas Youd, whose occupation was a baker. His son was William Youd, born in the early 1830's in Chester. William later moved to Manchester, where his occupation was listed as a confectioner (I don't know if Thomas went with him or not).

Sorry this is all a bit vague! Any help would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks.
Vanessa

Hi Vanessa
                  Welcome to rootschat

I have searched the 1851 census and cannot find your Youd family in Chester.

Do you have a marriage certificate for William if so,where, when,to whom and are there any witness's named ?

There is a listing on the LDS IGI website for a William baptised 1830 Chester father Thomas mother Elizabeth  ???http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/

sorry cannot help further at the moment

Dear Peter,

Thanks for looking that up for me. I'm thinking now that maybe the whole family moved to Manchester (or there abouts!). William was married in Manchester in 1857 (the witnesses are, I think, relatives of his wife).

I'll try the Manchester census and maybe Thomas will turn up there!
Once again many thanks.
Vanessa
