Coronation Medal 1937 Queen Elizabeth & King George VI
« on: Tuesday 02 September 08 18:14 BST (UK) »
I have the above medal and would like some information about it.  The front shows busts of Queen Elizabeth & King George VI - outside rim says Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.  Reverse says:

               TO COMMEMORATE THE
                CORONATION OF
                KING GEORGE VI
                          AND
                QUEEN ELIZABETH
                           AT
                WESTMINSTER ABBEY
                          1937

Attached is a ribbon with pin attached - colors are red - white and blue.  Measures about 1 1/2" and is silver in color.

I have no idea where it came from or how I acquired it.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi Stan - thanks for your reply.  I checked out Stephens - the only ones they refer to say GRI on the reverse side - mine does not.  Same for Google Image.
Maybe "unauthorized" ones were made?

Thanks for the information.  However, mine is still different.
First of all - there is no ball and ring - mine is simply a
hole in the medal itself with a ring - the ribbon is red and blue with white center - also with a ring on it.  There is no inscription on the side.

The wording is as described in my first posting to Rootschat.

I have not been able to find anything even close to what mine looks like.

Oh well......
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi Heather,

Is there any way you could post a photo of it?

It is possible the hole and ribbon was added later. Is there anything here that might be it?

Hi francis,

Welcome to RootsChat. Nice to know we have a medal expert amongst us. :)

Not a good idea to post your e-mail address, you'll get spammed big-time. I'd suggest you change or remove it.
