John Button and Sarah
« on: Wednesday 03 September 08 12:11 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help with John Button born c1796 in Tenderton, Kent, he married a Sarah,
who was also born in Tenderton.  Their daughter Hannah was born 2nd. Dec 1816.  I believe
she was their oldest child and Emily born 1837 was their youngest.  I have the 1841, 51 and
61 census but can find no info prior to this.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Newbabe

I've had a look at Baptisms in Tenterden, nothing for John I'm afraid.
It doesn't look like the BUTTONs were a Tenterden family.
There's only a John & Celia with two children in the 1850s, & John & Hannah with one child, Ann, in 1796.

Plenty for AVERY though :D
Two for a Sarah, the other one is 1825, so this one is the most likely:

Tenterden, St Mildred Baptism
30th Aug 1772 Sarah  dau of James & Mercy AVERY

Hi Newbabe
I have a lot of Buttons from Appledore and Woodchurch for the same time period. Tenterden is the nearest large town to these villages so they could be from these families. I've had a quick look but can't see a direct connection at the moment.
