His dob is c1867 his wife is Margaret (Woodhead) dob c1873
I believe they were living in Hensall but could be Little Heck or Great Heck.

Thanks for you help.

Hi

I have asked the moderator to move your message to the North Yorkshire board

Where were they both born as I can't see a William Marsden Cotton birth on freebmd 1865-1869

Thanks to you both, I have had problems finding my Grandfather Fred Cotton's birth on Free BMD ( he is the 4 yr old on the 1901 census) maybe I need to look under Catton there too.

Spot on again Ta.

Hi,

I rather think Fred`s birth is this one as they had six weeks to register a birth so he could have been born end of February or March even:

Fred Cotton, April, May, June Qtr 1897 Pontefract Volume 9c page 113.

Pontefract registration district covered Heck.

By the way, you said in a previous post (photo board) that Fred died in 1975, yet I have failed to find his death for that year :'(  This would have given you his actual date of birth.  Can you confirm that is was the correct year?

Regards,
Mo
