MALET Richard .b. 1837-39 . Wilbury House vs. Bombay
« on: Friday 05 September 08 12:33 BST (UK) »
On a wedding cert in 1861 Richard Malet of Bombay aged 22 says his father is the late  Colonel George Granville Malet .
In the brief time  i have had  the info the Colonel doesn't have a son Richard . Richard  doesn't come up as born in England .
He married in England to  my gggreat aunt Isabella Milner Wharton . there is a bit of a fiddle there tho because address is wrong and John milner Wharton wasn't no "Gentleman ".
Could sks. look up and see if Col. George Malet of Wilbury House, Wiltshire(bro to the 2nd Baronet ) had a son Richard possibly to his unknown 1st wife . thanks .

This is not an easy task

By the 1851 census the Malet children all seem to be at boarding school, I see a couple at Eton. There is a Richard Mellet of the right sort of ahe as a pupil at a school in Oxford, but no way of telling his parentage from that.

Back in 1841 I tried to find George at home in Wiltshire to see if he had a little Richard with him, but no sign of George. I f Richard was born in India, perhaps they were still out there then.

Have you tried  consular births? (I think on pay to view site findmypast)
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex
