1837 birth - Stettin Germany/Pommern now Szczecin

Good evening

We're tracing a relative who was born in Stettin, Pommern around 1837. I am likely to be visiting the area later this year (now called Szczecin and actually in Poland) and if possible get a copy of his birth record. Does anyone have a suggestion on where I should start? Is there a records office in Szczecin and would it have German records from 1837?!! Are any records for that area around 1830-1840 likely to be stored somewhere?

There is a state archive in Szczecin. Unfortunately, their website is in Polish.

From what I have heard, you will get a much quicker response if you can fnd someone to write a mail (or phone) in Polish.

You may be right that the German records were transfered to the Bundesarchiv.
