Hi morvanchris and a Warm Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

His next of kin can obtain his service record via this link

http://www.rootschat.com/links/014s/

and there maybe information regarding him at The National Archives, he may have filled in a Liberation questionnaire for example.

TNA have a research guide for PoWs here

thanks for the welcome and help, this is a fantastic forum, its heart warming to see the efforts people are going too to find these people who we all owe a huge debt to!

they should never be forgotten or "lost".

thanks again

also i now live in france in the morvan, west of dijon, and i know there are a few cemetaries here
that have british war graves(particularly the SAS originals who were aiding the marquis) i am willing to research/photograph any in my area for free, where should i post a thread to that effect

Hi Chris !

The graves of those who died during the construction and maintenance of the Burma-Siam railway (except for the Americans - whose remains were repatriated) were transferred from camp burial grounds and isolated sites along the railway into three cemeteries at Chungkai and Kanchanaburi in Thailand and Thanbyuzayat in Myanmar ...... so your Leonard could have died anywhere along the track !

I don't know if you've seen this site already but this will give you some ideas of what happened !
