X eyed with searching for ......
« on: Saturday 06 September 08 15:20 BST (UK) »
A marriage record for my ancestor  Ann Elizabeth 'Annie' Young b 1876 4Q at Knottingley, Pontefract, Yorks WR the fifth child of William and Sarah Young.

I have found Annie on 1881 and 1891 Census but I can't identify her on the 1901C.  There is an Annie b 1877 York working as a servant in York - but I'm doubtful about this Annie.  My Annie could be married by now of course, yet I haven't found a record on BMD Index - I had a look on FamilySearch.org hoping there might be something but no!

I have some info that Annie was married to George William Rose and they had a daughter Elsie I Rose b 2Q 1914 in Grimsby (record found 7a 143)but, I have been unable to find a record of this marriage.  I have thought that this could be Annie's 2nd marriage ...... in vain I've searched the records from 1896 thro' to 1913 but I'm unable to find anything.

As I am now Xeyed could someone help please?  Point me in the right direction please? :D

Ever hopeful
Polly

Hope you are all warm and dry and not suffering any damage from this horrendous weather

Also found 1901 RG13/4887 105/37 Joseph L Adair Musician Married (but wife not there) living Cockermouth area with brother and sisters

+ Joseph died Q2 1901 Cockermouth and Annie remarried Q3 (not a greiving widow so may have left Joseph before 1901 but not found her on 1901 census as yet)

I hope it proves to be the right people.
Often helps to have fresh eyes look at something. I all too often diverge from what I'm doing because I've found an interesting name that could be one of mine. Searches like yours have no distractions for someone who knows no other facts. So don't be too hard on yourself ;D

Essex Export you are a STAR - it all fits!!!  I've been looking for ages and having revisited my notes I found I have actually written Adair's name down as I searched thro marriage records trying to cross match but finding him in Cumbria I crossed it out and didn't recheck before I cried for help. Tush, Tush ........ anyway like you I haven't found Annie yet on 1901 census - when I saw she had married again in Barnsley I relooked at her brothers 1901C entry hoping she would be there living with them in Barnsley but no luck, not with her other siblings either.

Perhaps the musician was a bit temperamental!

Onward and upward - thanks again.
